PIE CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES
Eligibility: Contest is open to the public
Requirements:
No store bought pastry shells or fillings.
Pies only…no tarts, crisps or cobblers.
Pie must be submitted in a disposable pie tin.
Recipes for the pie and pie crust must be submitted on an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper. Include recipe source if it is not your own.
Entries requiring refrigeration must indicate so in the recipe. For safety reasons those entries will not be sold or distributed for consumption after judging. Contestant’s name, address, and phone number must be printed on the back side of all pages. Contestants agree to have their photos and recipes published without compensation as deemed appropriate by the Spruce Pine Main Street. All pies become the property of SPMS.

Each participant must bake two pies: One for judging, and one for the “cake”walk. There will be no entry fee. Entry form, recipe and pie must be submitted by 10am, Saturday, October 11, at the Spruce Pine Main Street Both at the corner of Locust & Crystal. No pies accepted after 10:15am.
Judging: Judging will begin at 12:00 noon and will be based on taste, crust, appearance, and creativity. Contest judges will be chosen by the Spruce Pine Main Street committee – the decision of the judges is final. Winners shall be announced at 1pm, with a “cake”walk following.
Prize Ribbons will be given for First and Second Place in each category.
All participants must register.
